A reward has been increased to $50,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of two men who shot a Detroit federal judge in the knee during an attempted robbery at his home last month.

U.S. District Judge Terrence Berg is recovering but may face knee replacement surgery later, depending on how well the injury heals, according to the Associated Press and the Detroit News.

The 55-year-old judge, who is a former federal prosecutor, didn’t recognize the suspects, so the March 5 crime is thought to have been random rather than targeted at Berg specifically. He was headed back to his front door after taking out the garbage at the time.
