A well-known Connecticut-based Northeast regional law firm has just named a new managing partner.

Sadly, as Above the Law points out, one of his first tasks was to announce layoffs. Due to the dismal economy, the firm is eliminating 11 associates and counsel and 19 staff members from its roster, in cuts that affect all of the firm’s seven offices in the Northeast, writes managing partner John Lynch, Jr. in a firm statement reprinted by the law blog.

But, in an upbeat note, the approximately 250-attorney firm, which also has an office in Sarasota, Fla., is not cutting its summer program or delaying the start date for the incoming fall class of new first-year associates.
