For the sixth straight year, Wachtell Lipton Rosen & Katz ranks as the top law firm in the country according to the latest Vault survey.

Cravath Swaine & Moore retains the No. 2 spot, and among the rest of the top 10, only one name is different than last year, reports a Business Wire press release. That is Chicago’s Kirkland & Ellis, which bumped Covington & Burling out of the top 10. Only one other law firm among the top 10, Los Angeles-based Latham & Watkins, isn’t headquartered in New York.

Meanwhile, several top United Kingdom law firms in London’s “magic circle” have shot up considerably on the annual list of top 100 law firms compiled by Vault.com as part of its best-selling guide. In just the past two years, Linklaters and Allen & Overy have shot up more than 20 spots.

The guide is based on the organization’s survey of almost 19,000 law firm associates, who are asked to rate the law firms with which they are familiar on a scale of 1 to 10 concerning quality of life, practice expertise and, of course, prestige.
