The television show Damages on FX has taken another case from the headlines, and this season it’s well-known: the massive Bernard Madoff fraud.
Lawyer Patty Hewes, played by Glenn Close, is appointed to recover assets from a Ponzi schemer, Louis Tobin, whose fraud resembles Madoff’s, according to stories in the New York Times, New York Daily News and USA Today. The money is hidden, but Tobin’s lawyer, wife and son likely know where it is, according to the USA Today account of the plot. The lawyer is played by Martin Short and the wife by Lily Tomlin.
“Who wouldn't love to see pit-bull Patty Hewes take on Wall Street?” USA Today writes. “Obviously, what most of us would like is to see it happen in real life, but since that's impossible, FX's twisty legal mystery Damages gives us the next best thing.”
