When Cooley Godward Kronish represents start-up companies in its growing Boston office, it won’t just be legal advice that the firm can offer them.

With the help of an angel investor who has been brought in as the office’s first vice president of strategy and development, Cooley can also help them with financing and strategic issues. Charlie Cameron, a nonlawyer who is co-founder and will remain the managing director of Hub Angels Investment Group, will also handle sales and business development for the office, reports the Boston Business Journal.

“Charlie is a good fit because he’s got a fabulous Rolodex,” says John Hession, the managing partner of the firm’s Boston office. “He has connections ranging from early-stage growth companies through to the mid-market and private equity space. That’s pretty key.”

Established a year ago, the Boston office of the 650-attorney California-based national firm now has 35 attorneys and expects to double in size within another two years, Hession says.
