A former dean of Baylor Law School died on Sunday in a car crash.

Angus McSwain, 87, died when he lost control of his car and it crashed into a house in Waco, Texas, KWTX.com reports. Paramedics said he may have suffered a medical problem before the accident, the story says.

McSwain served 19 years as dean, the longest of any dean at the law school at that time, according to a Baylor obituary. He resigned as dean in 1984 and returned to classroom teaching, a post he held when he first joined the law school in 1949. McSwain’s official retirement was in 1994, but he continued to teach until 2008, for a total of 59 years at the school.
