A 76-year-old “friend” who gave a 98-year-old lawyer a free office in New York and then accessed Emanuel Baetich’s financial records there to swindle the semi-retired trusts and estates practitioner out of $330,000 has been sentenced to spend weekends in jail for the next year.

Harry Abrams must also make restitution of $388,000 in the Manhattan Supreme Court case, the New York Law Journal reported in an article reprinted in New York Lawyer (reg. req.).

Abrams pleaded guilty late last year second-degree forgery, third-degree grand larceny and fourth-degree money laundering.
