A lawyer married to the Las Vegas judge who replaced Elizabeth Halverson has been arrested on a charge of domestic battery.

Edward Miley, a lawyer who represented one of the defendants in the O.J. Simpson robbery case, was arrested Thursday evening, the Las Vegas Sun reports. His wife is Judge Stefany Miley. She replaced Judge Elizabeth Halverson, whose husband was sentenced to 10 years in jail for beating her with a frying pan. Halverson was voted off the bench and disciplined after accusations surfaced that she treated staff members like servants.

Stefany Miley told police her husband pushed her to the floor when she tried to stop him from choking the family dog, according to the story. The judge also alleged that, earlier in the evening, her husband had pushed her and struck her in the chest with the back of his hand. Stefany Miley fled with her children to a neighbor’s house, and a veterinarian was called to the scene, according to the police report cited in the story.

Police said Edward Miley told a lieutenant he “would like you to arrest better looking hookers because I am tired of defending ugly ones,” the story says.

Edward Miley represented a Simpson defendant who pleaded guilty and testified for the prosecution.
