WilmerHale is the latest law firm target of a malicious phishing scheme intended to make trouble for the law firm and its clients.

E-mail from a fictitious “Brian Willmer” is being sent, purportedly from the firm, urging recipients to click on a link to determine how to respond to a commercial litigation subpoena, the firm says in a warning note (JPG) prominently displayed on its website.

Don’t do it, urge co-managing partners Bill Lee and Bill Perlstein in the legitimate website message.

“Please delete the message and avoid clicking on any links contained within the message,” they write. “There is no one named ‘Brian Willmer’ who works at our firm. We are attempting to trace the origin of these messages and stop them if possible.”
