A Massachusetts defense lawyer is accused of calling witnesses against his clients and telling them the district attorney didn’t need their testimony.

Prosecutors claim the lawyer, Edward G. Kelly of Fall River, identified himself in the phone calls as a witness advocate for the district attorney’s office in Plymouth County, the Herald News reports. He has been charged with three counts of witness intimidation and one count of disruption to the court, the story says.

Kelly’s lawyer, Robert Galibois, told the publication that his client has pleaded not guilty “and he looks forward to addressing the matter in court.”
