Miami Courthouse Evacuated, Searched for Possible Gun Spotted in Unsearched Bag or Briefcase
A security screener spotted what appeared to be a gun this morning in a bag or briefcase at the Richard E. Gerstein Justice Building in Miami.
But before the item could be searched for the firearm, someone picked it up from the crowded X-ray station, the Miami Herald reported.
The courthouse was evacuated and searched, floor-by-floor, by Miami-Dade police, who apparently found nothing.
“This could have been a child’s toy in a mom’s purse,” a spokeswoman for the department told the newspaper.
