Microsoft Gets Expedited Appeal of Judge's Ban on Some Word Product Sales
Attorneys for Microsoft are presumably busy this weekend, following a decision by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit to grant the computer goliath’s request for an expedited schedule of a federal trial court judge’s order that will potentially ban sales of some Word products in less than two months.
Initial briefs from Microsoft are due in four days, and oral arguments will take place on Sept. 23, reports the Seattle Post-Intelligencer’s Microsoft Blog.
A link to a motion filed Tuesday by Microsoft seeking an emergency stay of the injunction in favor of i4i Limited Partnership, pending appeal, is provided by PC Magazine.
The appeals court agreed not to require Microsoft not to post bond, the article notes, concerning the $290 million in damages that U.S. District Judge Leonard Davis has awarded in the Eastern District of Texas patent infringement case.
