Northeastern Ranked the Top Public Interest Law School

Northeastern tops a list of the best schools for public interest law.

The National Jurist ranked the law schools in its November issue, based on factors such as the percentage of students who entered the public interest field, the strength of the school's curriculum, and the cost of getting a degree, TaxProf Blog notes.

Northeastern is the nation’s only law school that requires every first-year student to work on a community-based legal research project for a nonprofit organization, according to the school’s website. Under the program, teams of students provide more than 1,000 hours of free legal services each year to up to 12 organizations that are committed to social justice.

The top five law schools are:

1. Northeastern University.

2. Loyola Marymount University.

3. Lewis & Clark College.

4. American University.

5. Stanford University.
