The next chairman of O’Melveny & Myers joined the law firm in 2002 when it acquired the private equity boutique O’Sullivan Graev & Karabell.

He is Bradley Butwin, 51, the chairman of the firm’s litigation department, report the Am Law Daily, Thomson Reuters News & Insight and a news release. He will replace current chairman Arthur “A.B.” Culvahouse Jr., though a date for the changeover has not been set.

“We don’t have any magic dates,” Butwin told the Am Law Daily. “I will work closely with A.B. in order to gain exposure to all aspects of our firm’s business and once that process gets under way we will know better.”

About two dozen partners have left the law firm this year, including several from O’Sullivan. A prior report said the two firms had cultural differences, and the acquisition created resentment because O’Sullivan partners received large pay guarantees.
