A one-pound weight gain has made a big difference in the life of a West Texas lawyer.

Melissa Morgan, 39, was automatically kicked off of the NBC show “The Biggest Loser” because of the weight gain, Texas Lawyer’s Tex Parte blog reports. The Aspermont solo started the show at 233 pounds and had dropped 35 pounds before she got kicked off on the Feb. 9 episode, according to an account published in the Abilene Reporter News before Morgan’s ouster.

The NBC website says Morgan packed on 40 pounds after getting married and another 20 pounds after the birth of her children. While a law student at Texas Tech University, “Melissa chose to eat out, rather than prepare healthy meals for her family,” the NBC bio says.

Morgan’s husband, Lance, remains on the show. The couple told the Abilene Reporter News that Lance Morgan had lost his job as a commercial diver because of the weight gain.

“I wanted to lose weight and get healthy,” Melissa Morgan told the Abilene Reporter News. “It became such an issue—our marriage was falling apart.”
