The legal team for private investigator Anthony Pellicano is citing new evidence in an effort to block admission of evidence found in a search of his office.
Lawyers contend an FBI agent concealed evidence and lied about it to obtain a search warrant, according to the Los Angeles Times.
The search turned up tapes of celebrities and attorneys that formed the basis for wiretapping and racketeering charges.
A federal appeals court had formerly refused to exclude the evidence, saying the warrant was obtained in good faith. But Pellicano’s legal team says new information ordered released by a federal judge undermines that conclusion.
