Wisconsin law professor and political blogger Ann Althouse is offering proof that a pro-labor protester was the aggressor in a Capitol clash on Friday—a video of the incident.

The protester was a member of the Solidarity Singers, who meet in the Wisconsin Capitol rotunda to sing pro-union songs, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel’s All Politics blog. The singer involved in the dust-up, Kirby Jones, told the newspaper that Althouse forced the camera in his face and he reacted by pushing it away.

Althouse offers another version of events, and posts a video at her blog as proof. The video shows Althouse filming a talkative protester who contends that Jesus is on the side of labor. Then a second protester, identified as Kirby by the newspaper, calls Althouse “socially retarded.” There is a blur as he reaches toward the camera, telling Althouse to get the camera out of his face and then swatting at her arm.

At that point, the first talkative protester steps between Kirby and Althouse, saying “I’ll take care of him, you take care of yourself.” Althouse protests, “That’s a crime. I could have you arrested.”

There were no arrests.

The blogs Dane101 and AVClub.com also covered the incident.
