Prosecutors in Queens held a special hearing yesterday to videotape the testimony of a 101-year-old mugging victim in case she is not able to testify at trial.

Rose Morat used a walker to enter the court but was able to recall the day of the mugging in vivid detail, the New York Times reports. Morat “appeared quite fit,” the newspaper says, with her “freshly coiffed white hair, a tan suit and a flowered scarf tied jauntily around her neck.” She turns 102 on Feb. 4.

The mugger offered to assist Morat as she left her apartment building, Morat said, then hit her on the head until she saw stars. He got $23.

When asked to identify the mugger, Morat pointed to the defendant and said “it could be a man like that.” Remembering that her attacker had large white teeth, she asked if he could smile. After an overruled objection, the defendant complied. “I would say, that’s the man,” Morat said.
