A law student and Iraq war veteran at the University of California-Davis is reportedly a suspect in two on-campus sexual assaults last night near a bicycle path that led university officials to send out an alert to other students.

Robert David Schaerges, 26, has been arrested and is being held at the Yolo County Jail on suspicion of sexual battery, false imprisonment and assaulting a police officer, reports the Sacto 9-1-1 blog of the Sacramento Bee.

A university press release urges other possible victims to contact authorities.

Although the articles don’t give details of the incidents, KCRA says they involved alleged groping.

“I’ve had numerous encounters with him this entire school year,” student Jelani Floyd tells the station of Schaerges. “And I think he’s a good person but he’s experienced [post traumatic stress disorder] as a result of you know, being over in Iraq.”

A Davis Enterprise article provides further details.
