Law students at the new law school at the University of California at Irvine are catching lots of breaks.

The school’s inaugural class of 2012 got full scholarships. Now the school is one of the top three nationwide for the rate of graduates securing federal judicial clerkships, according to Thomson Reuters News & Insight.

The story is based on figures from U.S. News & World Report, which tracks federal clerkships. “Despite not yet having bestowed a single law degree, UC Irvine says it has placed nearly a fifth of its 2012 graduates with district and circuit court judges,” Reuters says. “That rate was recently surpassed only by Yale, with 27 percent, and Stanford, with 24 percent.”
