White & Case Loses a 14th Partner; Firm Redeploys Key Lawyers
Updated: White & Case is scrambling to shore up its offices in London and the Middle East after losing 13 partners to Latham & Watkins and a 14th to Allen & Overy.
Legal Week reported today that A&O’s New York office has hired antitrust partner Elaine Johnston, who also served as White & Case’s executive partner for diversity.
White & Case is shifting key partners to offices that have suffered losses, the American Lawyer reports.
New York-based global head of finance Eric Berg plans to spend half his time overseas to shore up the London finance practice after the loss of four partners there, while finance partner Jake Mincemoyer has moved from New York to the London office.
Berg told the American Lawyer that clients have been supportive. “We’ve decided to move quickly and we’re committed to rebuilding the practice,” he said.
Other partners are being shifted to offices in Abu Dhabi, Qatar and Saudi Arabia.
According to a “lateral tracker” by the blog Law Shucks, White & Case has lost at least 20 partners since last October.
