Actor Jerry O’Connell is giving up law school, at least for now, to play a lawyer on TV.

O’Connell recently finished his first year at Southwestern Law School in Los Angeles. Now he’s leaving law school for a new CBS television show called The Defenders, the Associated Press reports. O’Connell says he still plans eventually to get his law degree.

O’Connell and actor Jim Belushi will play Las Vegas defense lawyers fighting for the little guy in what CBS describes as “an irreverent legal drama” that begins this fall. “Tenacious, defiant and completely engaging, they argue the law, and they follow the law, but they always keep a few tricks up their sleeves,” CBS says in its description of the TV lawyer duo.

According to the Washington Post, O’Connell “will be shirtless—a lot—if clips shown to advertisers are any indication.”
