Kate Hudson’s character in the movie Bride Wars appears to be an associate at Ropes & Gray.

The movie uses a fictitious law firm name, but some scenes in the movie suggest Hudson’s character Liv actually works at Ropes & Gray, the Boston Business Journal reports. Some of the real law firm’s partners aren’t happy about the association, sources told the publication.

The story points out the clues. Hudson’s character Liv has a meltdown in a scene filmed outside the law firm’s New York offices. And a brief flash of the law firm’s nameplate is shown in the movie as Hudson enters the building of her employer.

Ropes & Gray spokesman John Tuerck apparently hasn’t heard of any dissension. “We’re tickled to see our firm’s name in Hollywood lights,” he told the Boston Business Journal. “It’s all in good fun, and it comes at a time when everyone can use a laugh, for sure.”

The Am Law Daily notes that Tuerck made his comment as news broke that the law firm is laying off 106 staffers.
