The wife of actor and comedian Bill Murray has filed for divorce, contending that the former Saturday Night Live mainstay has physically abused her, has had affairs, is addicted to alcohol and marijuana and has abandoned her.

A premarital agreement attached to her South Carolina filing provides for a $7 million post-divorce payment to Jennifer Butler Murray, who has been married to the Caddyshack, Ghostbusters and Groundhog Day star for more than a decade, reports the Associated Press. A copy of the divorce filing (PDF) is provided by the New York Post.

However, Jennifer Murray "seeks a restraining order barring Bill Murray from her Sullivan's Island home and asks the court to determine if the couple's premarital agreement is valid and enforceable," reports the Post and Courier.

The two have four children, and their welfare is important to both parents, John McDougall, a lawyer for Bill Murray, tells AP. He declined to respond to Jennifer Murray's allegations, but says his client "is deeply saddened by the breakup of his marriage."

I say KUDOs to her for catching that slease in the act of cheating on her; she bore him children and now he’s fooling around on her?  I say take him for all he’s got.  I saw him in Lost inTranslation, and he was after Scarlett Johansen, and she was young and pretty.  Now that his wife is old, he wants to trade her in for a new model; well that wont come cheap.  MEN will have to pay if they want to trade us in.  I will not marry a guy who doesn’t want to adore me forever.  She thought Bill was devoted, but she was wrong.  MEN must be punished for straying.

“I saw him in Lost inTranslation, and he was after Scarlett Johansen, and she was young and pretty.”

Um, see, that was just a role in a movie.  The movie called for him to be “after” the character.  Please get a grip on reality before posting a comment.  Thanks for playing—you can go home now.
