Sheriff’s deputies are patrolling the home of a Dallas judge after the suspicious death of a lawyer found in a garage fire on Friday.

Judge Eric V. Moye warned law enforcement of a possible connection between litigation in his courtroom and the death of Dallas lawyer Ira Tobolowsky, according to campaign officials who spoke with the Dallas Morning News Scoop Blog and 5NBCDFW.

A spokesperson for the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department told 5NBCDFW that Moye is presiding over a “high-profile” trial that has prompted safety concerns.

Campaign officials told the Scoop Blog that the judge was followed on the North Dallas Tollway by a car that pulled alongside him. The car moved away after Moye put a gun on the passenger seat.

Tobolowsky’s body had been covered in fuel and set on fire, according to another story by the Scoop Blog, 5NBCDFW and WFAA. Tobolowsky’s law partner, Faith Burk, told WFAA that Tobolowsky was recently involved in a contentious civil case.
