The U.S. Department of Justice has filed a federal law suit against an Indiana law firm, contending that Mike Norris & Associates unlawfully refused to re-employ a former staff attorney after he returned from military duty in Iraq.

Mathew Jeffries initially filed a complaint over the alleged violation of Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act of 1994 (USERRA) with the Department of Labor’s Veterans’ Employment and Training Service. It determined that there was merit to his complaint and referred it to the DOJ, reports a PR Newswire press release.

The DOJ today filed suit in U.S. District Court in Indianapolis on behalf of Jeffries.

Additional details are provided in a subsequent Indianapolis Star article.
