Accused of sending racy text messages to a former sideline reporter for the New York Jets when he was the team’s quarterback, Brett Favre has been fined $50,000 by the National Football League for not cooperating with its investigation of the matter.

But the famous player, who is now with the Minnesota Vikings, was not found to have violated the NFL’s personal conduct policy, reports the New York Daily News.

He is expected to retire at at the end of the season, at which point he wouldn’t be subject to the league’s authority.

The NFL presently lacks a sexual harassment policy, but has been working on one since an unrelated incident earlier this season in which a Mexican television reporter complained she was targeted for unwanted attention by Jets players and coaches as she tried to interview the team’s current quarterback, Mark Sanchez.
