HBR Consulting and LexisNexis form IT and legal support joint venture
HBR Consulting and LexisNexis have agreed to a joint venture to provide clients with IT and legal support.
On Tuesday, Legaltech News reported that the two companies had launched Managed Technology Services. The new venture will combine LexisNexis’ technology and data hosting with HBR’s consulting and strategic services.
In a press release, LexisNexis and HBR claimed that their joint venture “will address IT and litigation support needs more comprehensively than would be possible through either company’s individual efforts.”
Chris Petrini-Poli, CEO of HBR Consulting, told Legaltech News that the two companies could have built out their own services individually. But it made more sense to join together.
“This joint venture allows us to provide law firms with a more holistic, full-service approach to IT managed services than either of us were capable of offering on our own,” he told Legaltech News. Petrini-Poli also noted that there was a lot of overlap between LexisNexis’ client base and HBR’s, meaning that integration should be fairly straightforward.
Petrini-Poli also pointed out that managed services are becoming more prevalent in software and finance, and forecast a similar outcome for law. “This certainly is a model that has been used in other industries. We have observed the benefits, with the joint venture being the outcome,” Petrini-Poli said. “Clients are asking, and we responding. We see the newly formed Managed Technology Services solution as a continuation of our approach to respond to client needs.”
According to the press release, MTS employees will be based out of Dayton, Ohio, and Raleigh, North Carolina.
