Jon Who? Gosselin, of Jon & Kate Fame, was Unknown Name to Divorce Lawyer
There’s at least one matrimonial lawyer in the United States who, until quite recently, had never heard of Jon & Kate Gosselin’s high-profile divorce case—Michael Marino.
The semi-retired Pennsylvania practitioner doesn’t watch much television. He says he had no idea that the two famous stars of a reality show based on their life at home in Wernersville with their eight children—twins and sextuplets—had decided to end their marriage. And so, when Jon Gosselin’s divorce lawyer, Mark Heller, called Marino and asked for his help getting a local court to agree to a pro hac vice representation of Gosselin by Heller, Marino readily consented, reports TMZ.
“The names didn’t mean anything to me,” he tells the celebrity gossip blog. “I thought it was some simple divorce case where some lawyer wanted to be introduced to the court.”
Once he found out that the divorce was, as TMZ puts it, a “contested mess,” Marino changed his mind and withdrew his sponsorship of Heller.
There’s no word yet on who Heller’s likely to call for an introduction next.
