A Seattle police officer who shot a 52-year-old lawyer during a 2006 traffic-related melee has now been charged with suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol in an unrelated case.

Officer Zsolt Dornay, 40, and his younger brother were charged in Grays Harbor County District Court after being arrested by state police in Ocean Shores last week on suspicion of driving their motorcycles while intoxicated, reports the Seattle Times.

A lengthy 2008 article in the Seattle Post-Intelligencer details Dornay’s career as “an aggressive, proactive cop” whose conduct has, at times, been controversial.

Accounts of the 2006 melee differed. However, all sides agreed that Dornay was riding his motorcycle off-duty when an altercation ensued that began with a dispute between him and a woman pedestrian employed by attorney James Walker.

It resulted in the officer being severely beaten and Walker—who was simply an innocent bystander, according to his lawyer, but the Post-Intelligencer said Walker spoke belligerently to the officer—being shot three times by Dornay.
