DNA found on the clothes of the hotel maid who says she was sexually assaulted reportedly matches that of the man she accused, Dominique Strauss-Kahn, the former chief of the International Monetary Fund.

Among the publications reporting the match, based on anonymous sources, are the New York Times and the New York Daily News. A DNA stain on the woman’s shirt reportedly is a match, the Daily News says. Tests are still being done on carpet samples from the room at the Sofitel New York.

Strauss-Kahn’s lawyers have hinted that their client will claim the sexual encounter was consensual.

Meanwhile, the Washington Post has a story on the dangers faced by hotel housekeepers. One hotel security consultant told the newspaper he knows of dozens of incidents in which hotel maids faced unruly and troublesome guests, including some cases of rape.

One former Toronto housekeeper, Andria Babbington, said turndown service was especially difficult because of guests making sexual propositions. If a housekeeper reacted angrily, the guest would complain and management would end up discounting the hotel stay and sending a fruit basket to the room.
