Two large law firms have dropped ampersands from their names.

Law.com (sub. req.) has a story on the changes, which also include a dropped comma. Baker & McKenzie is now Baker McKenzie, while Boies, Schiller & Flexner is now Boies Schiller Flexner.

Boies Schiller didn’t immediately respond to Law.com’s request for comment, but the publication notes that the firm has a redesigned website “with an ampersandless ‘BSF’ plastered boldly at the top of the home page.”

Laurie Robertson, the chief marketing officer at Baker McKenzie, told Law.com that the law firm is “changing with the times,” though the ampersand is a small part of that. She also said that many people already call the firm Baker McKenzie.
