You might think the Secret Service agents would have been a giveaway, let alone the phalanx of staff and extra security that poured in through a side door at the New Castle County Courthouse during a break.

But at least one member of a Delaware jury pool failed to spot Vice President Joe Biden among the 100 prospects assembled there this morning, the News-Journal reported.

Others, however, took the opportunity to shake the veep’s hand.

Biden answered to his name like any ordinary juror during a roll call but was eventually dismissed without being put on a jury.

“I don’t consider myself different than any other person,” he said, calling the opportunity to serve an important honor. “I hope the president serves in Chicago if he is called.”

There was one clear difference between Biden and his fellow jury pool members, though: He was apparently the only one exiting during a break to speak with Obama on a secure telephone line.
