Kentucky Derby is a win for Frost Brown Todd and its chairman emeritus

Frost Brown Todd—the largest law firm in Louisville, Kentucky—entertained clients during a week of Kentucky Derby events, while its chairman emeritus had an even bigger stake in the Run for the Roses.
Louisville partner-in-charge Geoffrey White told the American Lawyer that several events besides the Derby present good opportunities for client entertainment, including a Thursday race called Thurby, and a Saturday awards presentation by the Kentucky Center for the Arts at Churchill Downs.
Frost Brown Todd chairman emeritus C. Edward Glasscock also has Derby ties. He owned a stake in Justify, the winner of the 144th running of the race, and third-place finisher Audible through a Kentucky racing syndicate called Starlight, the American Lawyer reported.
Glasscock’s son, Clinton Glasscock, revealed the ownership interest in an interview with Louisville Business First. Starlight owned Justify with three other racing companies, report the New York Times and the Lexington Herald-Leader.
Clinton Glasscock said he and his father usually spends about $2.5 million to $3 million a year on horses with investments through Starlight.
C. Edward Glasscock told Louisville Business First in 2014 that he has attended every Kentucky Derby since 1969. At that time, he had invested in dozens of horses over the years, but wasn’t sure whether he had turned a profit.
