CALL FOR NOMINATIONS FOR THE ABA MEDAL

The American Bar Association Board of Governors’ Profession, Public Service and Diversity Committee invites nominations for the 2022 recipient of the ABA Medal. The ABA Medal is the highest award bestowed by the American Bar Association, and it is given for exceptionally distinguished service by a lawyer or lawyers to American jurisprudence. Nominations must be submitted by Friday, May 20. Visit the ABA Medal website at ambar.org/abamedal for award guidelines and a list of past recipients.

GOAL III MEMBERS-AT-LARGE ON THE NOMINATING COMMITTEE FOR THE 2022-2025 TERM

The ABA president will appoint one Goal III Minority Member-at-Large and one Goal III Woman Member-at-Large to the Nominating Committee for the 2022-2025 term and one Goal III Disability Member-at-Large to fill an unexpired term for one year, 2022-2023. These appointments will be made from broadly solicited nominations from the diversity commissions, sections, divisions and forums, state and local bar associations and the membership at large. Interested members must submit a letter of interest and a resumé to [email protected]. The deadline for submission of credentials for consideration for these presidential appointments is Friday, May 13.

2022 STATE DELEGATE VACANCY ELECTIONS

Due to the Board of Governors nominations of Daniel Schwartz of Connecticut, Aurora N. Austriaco of Illinois and M. Joe Crosthwait of Oklahoma, pursuant to Section 6.3(e) of the association’s constitution, the states of Connecticut, Illinois and Oklahoma will hold state delegate vacancy elections to fill the unexpired terms that will exist for these state delegate positions. The deadline for filing petitions is Friday, May 6. Petitions must be filed at [email protected]. The Board of Elections will certify the election results. The terms will commence at the end of the 2022 annual meeting and will expire at the conclusion of the 2023 annual meeting. Go to ambar.org/stdelvacancy for petition instructions and procedures.

2022 DELEGATE-AT-LARGE ELECTION

Pursuant to Section 6.5 of the ABA Constitution, six Delegates-at-Large to the House of Delegates will be elected at the 2022 ABA Annual Meeting for three-year terms beginning with the adjournment of that meeting and ending with the adjournment of the 2025 annual meeting. Candidates for election as Delegate-at-Large are to be nominated by written petition. The deadline for filing nominating petitions is Wednesday, May 18. ACTION OF THE NOMINATING COMMITTEE AT THE 2022 MIDYEAR MEETING

In accordance with Section 9.1 of the ABA Constitution, the House of Delegates Nominating Committee, at its meeting Saturday, Feb. 13, nominated Mary L. Smith of Illinois for president-elect (2022-2023), Palmer G. Vance III of Kentucky for chair of the House of Delegates (2022-2024 term), Frank “Fritz” Langrock of Vermont for treasurer (2023-2026 term) and individuals as members of the Board of Governors (2022-2025).
