Fake Tenn. lawyer sentenced to prison for scamming victims

A Memphis man pleaded guilty to impersonating a lawyer and stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars from people who looked to him for help.
Glenis Campbell, 62, was sentenced to 12 years in prison and will be eligible for parole after serving 4.2 of those years. He was also ordered to pay restitution. The plea deal was announced Tuesday.
The Shelby County District Attorney’s Office says that Campbell accepted a plea deal for 13 separate indictments, including financial exploitation of a vulnerable adult, property theft, and impersonating a licensed professional. Campbell is accused of bilking victims out of about $300,000 in phony legal fees, according to a report by ABC 24 Memphis.
According to officials, Campbell was previously arrested in 2008 for impersonating a lawyer and pleaded guilty then, too.
