Paul Hastings has created a fund to help staff members and lawyers below the partner level who are affected by the novel coronavirus.

The law firm will match contributions to the fund made by its partners, lawyers and staff members, Law.com reports. The match has no cap.

Employees and lawyers can apply for funds to help themselves or their immediate family members. Decisions on distributions will be made by representatives from PH Cares, the firm’s philanthropic arm.

The types of expenses that will be covered include medical expenses not included in regular benefits, mental health care, increased child-care expenses, utility costs and extra commuting costs for people who work outside their house but don’t want to take public transportation.

“People’s lives are complicated, they have husbands and wives and kids,” Paul Hastings chairman Seth Zachary said in an interview with Law.com. “Our strong performance allows us to help people individually and collectively.”
