A name partner and an associate of a five-attorney personal injury firm in Buffalo, N.Y., died in Ohio yesterday when their small plane crashed shortly after taking off from Cuyahoga County Airport.

Michael Doran, 51, of Doran & Murphy, was piloting the plane, which he owned, reports NewsNet5, relying in part on information from the Associated Press. With him was associate Matthew Schnirel, 26.

The cause of the crash isn’t yet known and may take months to determine, the Associated Press reported.

In a statement provided to NewsNet5, the law firm described the two attorneys as dedicated family men as well as attorneys with impressive career accomplishments.

Doran had won some $200 million in settlements and verdicts over the past 15 years, according to the firm’s website, and Schnirel had recently passed the New York state bar. Both earned their law degrees from the University of Buffalo.
