Two men pleaded guilty in Nevada state court today in charges concerning an alleged armed robbery of sports memorabilia from a Las Vegas casino hotel room involving former football superstar O.J. Simpson. They are expected to testify against Simpson and three other remaining co-defendants at trial, if the case goes that far.

Each of the two pleaded to a lesser felony accomplice crime (conspiracy to commit robbery, in one case, and accessory to robbery in another) concerning what the Associated Press describes as “the Sept. 13 confrontation with two sports memorabilia dealers at a Las Vegas casino hotel room.”

Simpson, 60, is out on bail but potentially faces life in prison if convicted in the case. He and the other three remaining defendants are charged with “nine felonies and one gross misdemeanor charge of kidnapping, armed robbery, assault with a deadly weapon and conspiracy,” AP reports. “A kidnapping conviction alone could result in a sentence of life in prison with parole.” Simpson is also charged with another felony—coercion, according to the news agency.

As discussed in an earlier ABAJournal.com post, Simpson says no crime occurred and the sports memorabilia belonged to him. His lawyer, Yale Galanter, said last week that Simpson insists both that there were no guns brought into the casino hotel room and that he didn’t tell anyone to bring guns, according to AP.
