In a sign that things may be looking up for O.J. Simpson, a Nevada judge set bail for the handcuffed former football star at $125,000 during his arraignment today.

Simpson previously had been held without bond after having been arrested Sunday in connection with a claimed armed robbery last week at a Las Vegas casino hotel room. Today he was arraigned on 10 felony counts, including kidnapping, and one misdemeanor charge, reports the Los Angeles Times (reg. req.).

Although, as discussed in an ABAJournal.com post, authorities earlier didn’t seem to be cutting Simpson any breaks, Simpson’s lawyer, Yale Galanter, today praised the prosecution for its professionalism, the Times writes. Simpson, who surrendered his passport, is free to travel in the U.S. and plans to return to Florida once he is released.

News coverage suggests that Simpson was not armed at the claimed robbery, which concerned sports memorabilia that Simpson contends belongs to him.
