Edwards Angell Goes Green in Conn.
A 21-attorney Connecticut law office hopes to become the first in the state to earn a LEED certification, as a result of a $4 million renovation project to create an environmentally friendly “green” workspace and refurnish its 28,000-square-foot workplace.
Moving from traditional mahogany trim to walnut trim and replacing traditional lighting with controlled illumination that automatically brightens, dims and turns off, according to the time of day and the amount of light outside, are some of the measures that the Hartford office of Boston-based Edwards Angell Palmer & Dodge is employing, according to the Hartford Courant. The office is also “incorporating glass panels made from recycled bottles, countertops made from aluminum scrap metal bonded to a resin base and some of the office flooring will be bamboo, a rapidly replenished resource,” the newspaper writes.
The LEED certification, short for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, is awarded by the U.S. Green Building Council.
