A former astronaut accused of attempted kidnapping for confronting a romantic rival wants an Orlando court to release her from an electronic ankle bracelet.

Lisa Nowak pays $105 a week to wear the bracelet as a condition of her release while she awaits trial. Court papers say the company that makes the monitor has jumped on the PR opportunity, inviting reporters to check out Nowak’s location from a remote terminal, the New York Times reports.

The bracelet prevents Nowak from swimming, exercising or wearing boots with her Navy uniform, her lawyer says. Nowak has been assigned duties at a naval air station in Texas.

Nowak is accused of driving from Texas to Florida, where she squirted pepper spray on her rival in an airport parking lot.
