Lawyer Ron Kuby Says His Big Mouth Caused a Nose Injury
Lawyer Ron Kuby says his inability to keep quiet left him with a bloody nose and a wrenched back.
The New York civil rights and criminal defense attorney tells the New York Daily News the trouble began Wednesday evening when he objected to a woman’s shouts of a gay slur as he was walking home from his law office. “Since I am congenitally incapable of shutting my mouth or not sticking my nose in, I quietly remonstrated with her,” Kuby said.
Kuby tells the Daily News what happened next. The woman shouted, “Shut up, old man,” before charging Kuby. She spit in his face and slapped him, spurring Kuby to push her away. That incensed the woman’s boyfriend, who punched Kuby in the nose. The blow sent Kuby to the ground, but he got up and hit the boyfriend, wrenching his back.
Police have charged the woman with disorderly conduct and the man with misdemeanor assault, the story says.
