Led by a former co-chair of Bingham McCutchen’s banking and leveraged finance practice group, an 11-lawyer contingent is joining the Boston office of Morgan Lewis & Bockius.

The five partners and six associates are expected to focus their practice at Morgan Lewis on corporate finance and restructuring, their new firm reports in a press release. The five partners are: Robert Barry, Jonathan Bernstein, Sula Fiszman, Matthew Furlong and Sandra Vrejan

“Particularly in light of the difficult credit markets faced by both our lender and borrower clients, there is an ever-increasing need for us to be able to provide additional top-flight financing expertise across a multitude of industries” says Morgan Lewis chair Francis Milone in the release. “This expansion reflects our continued commitment to providing clients with the kind of counsel they need to execute credit transactions in any business environment.”

In a statement provided to Above the Law, the Bingham firm wishes the departing lawyers well. “Just as many laterals join Bingham because they believe it will offer them a new opportunity, sometimes they may leave for similar personal reasons,” it notes.
