So who are these innovative solos who’ll be making their way through the Midwest to speak to and about solo and small firm lawyers as part of a unique SoloCorps project?

Carolyn Elefant is a solo practitioner focusing on energy law in Washington, D.C. She’s an early adopter of technology for her law practice, having hand-coded her firm’s website in 1995 and joining the first generation of lawyer bloggers in 2002. Elefant blogs prolifically at recently made over MyShingle and her latest book is Social Media For Lawyers: The Next Frontier. She’s also the author of Solo by Choice: How to Be the Lawyer You Always Wanted to Be.

Lisa Solomon, a solo practitioner in Ardsley, NY, was one of the first lawyers to recognize and take advantage of the technological advances that make outsourcing legal research and writing services practical and profitable for law firms. Since 1996, Solomon has concentrated on assisting lawyers across the country with legal research and writing services. Through Legal Research & Writing Pro, she teaches other attorneys how to start and run practices as contract lawyers.

Elefant and Solomon teamed up for a live chat during last year’s 24 Hours of Rebels event discussing “Law Practice Plus: Solos and Entrepreneurship.”
