Fox Rothschild now has a presence in Texas as a result of its acquisition of 18-lawyer Dallas law firm David & Goodman.

According to a Tuesday story from the Legal Intelligencer, Fox Rothschild’s newest office will provide litigation, corporate and family law services. Fox Rothschild acquired every one of David & Goodman’s attorneys and will bring in nine as partners.

The Intelligencer reports that the David & Goodman lawyers do not have a heavy focus on energy; however, firm managing Mark Silow said that acquisition will bolster the firm’s existing energy practice. “Energy wasn’t driving this deal, but energy was certainly an important component of our thinking,” Silow told the Intelligencer. Silow said he has been looking for an opportunity to enter Texas for years, and was willing to consider locations in Austin, Dallas, Fort Worth or Houston before making the deal for David & Goodman. He also noted that the firm already has several clients based or doing lots of business in Texas, and that the firms have already explored some cross-selling opportunities.

“As the needs of our clients have continued to develop, we are anxious to position ourselves to offer the breadth of resources available through a full-service, national firm, particularly with a firm of the reputation of Fox Rothschild,” said Clinton David, founder and former managing shareholder of David & Goodman, in a press release. “We are extremely excited to join a dynamic, growing and entrepreneurial firm like Fox and look forward to helping the firm establish its brand and expand its footprint in Texas.” According to the press release, David will serve as the office managing partner of the new Dallas location.

The move is the latest part of Fox Rothschild’s expansion plan. According to the press release, the firm has recently merged with MBV Law in San Francisco and Lottner Rubin Fishman & Saul in Denver. The firm has also entered the Florida market by opening a Miami office in April 2013. The Dallas location will be Fox Rothschild’s twentieth office.
