Most interpersonal conflicts within law firms are resolved quietly behind closed doors, but in the era of social media, staff and lawyers are increasingly turning to social media to air their grievances.

While some attorneys and staff vent on anonymous posting platforms, including Fishbowl and Reddit, they are also turning to LinkedIn, a professional networking platform, according to a story by Law.com.

Easy accessibility to an audience through social media removes the usual gatekeeping process when it comes to confronting firms with allegations of misconduct, according to Wayne Pollock, the founder and managing attorney at Copo Strategies, a public relations company in Philadelphia.

“We all now have a megaphone on LinkedIn, Facebook, TikTok. It’s democratized—we can reach out directly to the world without going through the media,” Pollock told Law.com.

Complaints and concerns posted on LinkedIn, in particular, can further drive reputational damage as attorneys begin sharing stories with other attorneys and members of the legal world, Pollock said.
