A Houston man has died and his father, a lawyer, is hospitalized after they were set on fire, allegedly by a man who was living with them, police say.

Houston lawyer Kirby Taylor, 67, ran out of the home to retrieve a garden hose after the incident, a neighbor told Click2Houston. He and his 46-year-old son, Dexter Taylor, were found inside the home by firefighters. Dexter Taylor was pronounced dead at the hospital, while Kirby Taylor is being treated there for burns covering more than 30 percent of his body, the Houston Chronicle reports. KHOU and KTRK also have stories.

A man who lived with the Taylors, 32-year-old Curtis Holliman, was charged with murder on Tuesday, according to the stories. KTRK says Holliman had attended worship services at a Baptist church with the Taylors.

Police allege Holliman set the Taylors on fire because they laughed at him.

Kirby Taylor is a former prosecutor in city municipal courts who is now a lawyer with Ross & Taylor, according to Click2Houston.
