In 1986 Amy Bishop said her brother’s shooting death at their family home was an accident, and authorities believed her.

But after she allegedly killed three professors in a Feb. 12 shooting spree at a faculty meeting at the University of Alabama at Huntsville, authorities reopened their investigation into this and other incidents. An inquest in her brother’s death is set to begin tomorrow, reports the Boston Globe.

It will be conducted by Quincy District Court Judge Mark Coven.

Prosecutors have said they weren’t aware, at the time the decision was made to close the 1986 case, that Bishop allegedly sought to commandeer a vehicle at gunpoint at an automobile dealership following the shooting death of her 18-year-old brother.
