Kirkland & Ellis is likely to remain at the top of highest-grossing law firms in the world after reaching more than $10 billion in revenue in 2025.
According to Law.com, as Kirkland’s partner head count increased by about 9% to 1,823 partners last year, its revenue per lawyer increased by nearly 11% to $2.55 million. Meanwhile, its average profits per equity partner increased 20% to $11.1 million.
“We had a very good year,” firm chair Jon Ballis said in a statement provided to Law.com. “We appreciate both our clients’ confidence and also the extremely talented and dedicated people we have at the firm.”
Law.com attributed Kirkland’s continued growth to its activity in private equity, restructuring and fund transactions, among other practices. The firm also reportedly made significant investments in its mass torts litigation practice.
Kirkland’s deal portfolio increased from $425 billion to $829 billion between 2024 and 2025, according to Law.com, which cited information from the London Stock Exchange Group.
Among its most prominent corporate matters last year, the firm handled Blue Owl Capital’s $27 billion joint venture with Meta to develop a data center in Louisiana, Law.com reports. It also worked on more than a dozen transactions for Blackstone, including the company’s $25 billion investment in data centers and natural gas power plants in Pennsylvania.
